The Monkey Prince is the perfect metaphor for educating your children about environmental issues. Without any complex science or political posturing, The Monkey Prince carries an unmistakable message that sparks a fire in children to act.
In “The Monkey Prince,” we follow the unlikely adventure of Bodhi, a prince who is goaded by an enigmatic owl into seeing the truth about Simia Town at the top of the World Tree. In an enlightening revelation, Bodhi realizes his people have been using the timber of their own tree to build their treetop kingdom, threatening the entire society. As Bodhi climbs back up to his kingdom, he must convince the other simian citizens of the danger he found, arriving finally to confront his father, the king. Through playful rhymes and emotional, imaginative scenes, the story aims to captivate children while gently instilling a sense of responsibility and appreciation for the world around them and their place in keeping it. The story is written to be read aloud by parents concerned about how to raise engaged and enlightened children. “The Monkey Prince” was created to instill an innate understanding of our role in the climate crisis and how to activate a new generation.

I’ve been drawing since before the Reagan Adminstration, but I’ve been cartooning and illustrating professionally since the 1990s. I was the official cartoonist on base at Ft. Campbell, KY, for the US Army and had a regular comic strip in the base paper. So, yeah, awhile now.
Glad you asked! I’m wrapping up a graphic novel about neurodivergent teenage robots called “Wired Different.” The book is meant to educate and bring light to the issues faced by those of us who don’t have the luxury of neurotypical minds.
When I’m not writing and illustrating books, I’m making the hit TV show START UP on PBS. Apart from that, I’m building a 3D open world game meant to help those with PTSD, run an environmental nonprofit, creating web and mobile apps, and slowly creating a companion soundtrack album for my video game. Fun is a relative term.
